The government of India will import part of the steel limit exemption period is extended to April 17th


According to a statement of the Department of India iron and steel, the government of India on Wednesday for some steel grades (mainly steel for automobile manufacturing) import more stringent restrictions of the effective time was extended to April 17th.

In June 2018, in order to promote the development of India local manufacturing industry, India iron and Steel Ministry in India sales of domestic and imported steel must be through the India Bureau of standards (Bureau of Indian Standards-BIS) of the mandatory certification, and in December 17, 2018 as the deadline for the implementation of the policy. But in all the major car manufacturers expressed concern and questioned after the deadline was postponed for two months to February 17, 2019.

India, a federal minister said, if the strict implementation of these provisions since February 17th policy, India production of the automobile industry will stagnate.

The automobile companies hope that the government will formally implement the policy before the buffer period delayed to the end of 2019.
